Lady Runners – About

LADY RUNNERS are friendly running groups for ladies of all shapes, sizes and abilities. We have groups in Cheltenham and Tewkesbury.


All levels are accommodated as we offer three groups each session with runs typically ranging from 3 to 6 miles. We offer support to experienced runners as well as those new to running via our 10 week Beginners Courses.


Cheltenham – Mondays at 6.30pm  to 7.30pm at Prince of Wales Stadium
Tewkesbury – Sundays at 9am to 10am at Tewkesbury School Sports Centre

Why run?

Ladies that run with us do so for a number of reasons, these include; running for fun, to keep fit, to train for events or as a way to unwind for the day… whatever your reason for running you will find all our groups are friendly and supportive.


It’s costs only £2 a session which ladies pay on the day to the leaders.
(Beginners courses cost £35 for the 10 week course)


We arrange different routes each week and sometimes have hill or speed training sessions. Whatever the weather (…except ice or extreme rain when the roads are too dangerous to navigate safely by car or by foot), whatever the running session or group, our main aim is that everyone has fun… and no one gets left behind. 


Our four groups are calledRED, PINK, AMBER and GREEN. These will adjust according to who is in a group on each session, however they are roughly organised like this:


The Red group is our 10 Week Beginners Course and is suitable for ladies completely new to running. We have 3 beginners course a year. Over the 10 weeks ladies in our Red group will learn to run in a safe and fun way and by the end of the course will be running 3 miles. The Pink group run about 2.5 to 3 miles at a comfortable chatting pace. This is the group that ladies graduating from our Red Beginners Courses will join. The pink group is also suitable for ladies that would like a helping hand to increase the distance or pace they already run at.


The Amber group ladies run 3-4 miles (pace 11-12 min per mile). Pace and distances will vary accordingly to accommodate who’s in the group each week – no one gets left behind at LADY RUNNERS.


The Green group ladies run 4+ miles (pace 10-11 min per mile). If you run faster than 10 min miles you can still run with the Green group as we use loop backs to keep everyone together and ensure all ladies have an enjoyable, safe and worthwhile run.

*The above details about pace and mileage are for guidance only as our groups will vary across the year as we adjust them to suit the needs of the ladies running with us. Depending on what events and races the Lady Runners have entered there might be race/event specific runs or training put on for you.
